DigitFest 2009 “meats” Digit Feast 2009.

This past weekend was DigitFest 2009 in Narrowsburg, NY, a celebration of Digital Art.  The students and company members of the Margolis Method Center submitted a film for the “Quick and Gritty Video Slam,” which is basically a 48 hour film competition.  The film had to be shot in Narrowsburg over the weekend, and had to be less than 3 minutes in length.  We put our devious heads together and came up with Digit Feast 2009.  What happens when the mindlessness of everyday life gets to us?  At what point do we stop living, appreciating every moment, and become zombies?  With Narrowsburg as our Everytown, USA, we came up with an entertaining, creepy, and beautiful exploration of this idea.  And we had a LOT of fun doing it.  Much to our delight, we won the GRAND PRIZE at the competition!  The original song “Zombies in Narrowsburg” was put together by myself and the very talented Kalen Keir.  Check it out:

Margolis Method – Workshop and Performance Event May 2-3

This past weekend was a great workshop with the Margolis Method in Manhattan, NY.  I spent the prior two weeks out there training and gearing up for the performance event that followed the workshop, on May 3rd.  We set up a slew of improvisational structures for some exciting, edge-of-your-seat theatre.  It was a great opportunity to let an audience into our creative process, producing theatre on your feet with smart, trained actors.  Another performance will be taking place in Narrowsburg, NY in late June.

Kudos to all actors who came to the workshop and to all who were able to make it to the performance!

Time of the Faeries

Happy New Year to all!  It’s been an amazing fall and winter, and 2009 started off with a blast!

First off let me say that the CYCLOPEDIA tour was amazing this past fall.  We played in amazing places and were able to conduct a number of fantastic workshops as well.  I definitely hope to see some of the students at our summer intensive workshops at the Margolis Method Center in the catskills.

I spent much of December back home in Minneapolis and returned in time to work with amazing photographer, Joseph Corsentino and his amazing partner Donny.  Huge thanks to my beautiful and talented friend Genevieve Harbuck, who connected us.  Joseph Corsentino and with his wife Donny are the creative forces behind “Time of the Faeries,” a fascinating take on the world of faeries.  I did a photo shoot with them for “The Afterlight,” the followup to their first installment.  I’ll post photos soon, but in the mean time check out their website; they do some really amazing work!

A brief repose

Well my month in the Catskills workshopping with the Margolis Method Center was truly amazing. I met and worked with a lot of amazing and talented artists, and the whole experience was truly a pleasure.
I’m also thrilled to report that I’ll be touring with the Margolis Brown Adaptors’ production of Cyclopedia, working on live sound as well as understudying various roles in the show. The tour will be for most of October and the solidified places we’ll be performing include Minneapolis, Kansas City, Baltimore, and Reus, Spain.

In the mean time I’m looking at a number of projects, including writing and various photoshoots. More updates on the way!

Workshop in the Catskills

Cascade at the Catskill CottageI’m taking a 3-4 weeks Artist Retreat with the Margolis Brown Adaptor Company for most of June. The first week’s already halfway through and it’s a butt-kicking experience in the best of ways. I had to share a picture of the backyard of the amazing cottage I’m staying in. There’s a waterfall and a babbling brook and I truly feel it’s the ideal environment for an artistic retreat. So serene! I’ve picked up my guitar which has been lonely for some time now; hopefully we’ll rekindle our friendship and crank out some new material. Some news pending on potential projects on the horizon but nothing solidified yet.

I’ll be sure to post clips from my previous film shoot, That’s Sex, as soon as I get a copy of it. I’m really excited to see the finished project and share it.
